These life insurance ads make it seem that you get a lump sum payment immediately. Is this even possible? And if so then how?

Hi Kellie,
First, most life insurance advertisements are incredibly deceptive and as close to a lie as possible. You should always view paid life insurance advertisements like a politician speaking to you. Assume an incredible amount of context is being deliberately withheld from you.
That said, there are absolutely life insurance policies that fully insure you immediately for natural or accidental death. To get one, you must apply with a company where you answer health questions, and you're subsequently approved. It's important to note that all policies with no health questions (often called guaranteed acceptance policies) will always have a two-year waiting period where death would only result in a refund of your premiums.
Lastly, most people can qualify for a final expense policy with no waiting period. That's true even if you have pre-existing conditions. Although, there are some health issues (such as dementia) where a two-year waiting period is inevitable.
Your best bet is to work with an independent agency that partners with multiple insurers on your behalf. They will compare each company to hopefully find you one that will approve you for coverage with no waiting period.
